Different Between WINDOWs and LINUX

Both are operating system only.

1)  MS window based on DOS  but Linux is based on UNIX

2)  Linux is more security Because its open source development that was checked by all around the people,but in case of window its made by a team.

3) Linux is free of cost,but window is costly one.

4) Linux is open source operating system and people can change the program and adding the code.But we cant change the code in window OS

5) Linux is customizable but window is not.

6) Linux has a reputation for fewer bugs than Windows.

7) Window is boot from its primary partition but Linux can boot from either a primary partition or a logical partition inside an extended partition.

8) Window must boot in first hard disk but Linux boot in any hard disk

9) Windows uses a hidden file for its swap file typically they are stored in the same partition but Linux uses a dedicated partition for its swap file.

10) Windows separates directories with a back slash while Linux uses a normal forward slash.

11) Windows file name are not case sensitive but Linux file names are case sensitive.

12) In window we can store the files in any where but  in linux we can store under a parent directory.

13)  Window use volume hierarchy but in Linux uses unified hierarchy
